Job description

Waterways Engineer (Multiple Positions)

Sutherland Shire council has three exciting opportunities to join a newly formed team within the Strategic Asset Management unit. As part of the Asset Services and Delivery Division, the Strategic Asset Management team is responsible for life cycle management of Council’s infrastructure assets including roads, pathways, open space, drainage, buildings and related assets.

These roles will collaborate with the wider team while focussing on Council’s waterways, coastal environment and stormwater including, but not limited to preparing and providing specialist advice in relation to stormwater management, water quality, floodplain risk management and related environmental issues while maintaining and improving Council’s stormwater and waterway asset management system, implementing continuous improvement of business processes and practices, maintain and developing corporate asset management systems for waterways assets along with leading and mentoring Waterways Engineers whilst embedding the organisational culture and CARE Values within the team.

To be successful in this role you will possess proven ability to enhance and protect the beautiful and healthy natural environment of the community waterways, ensure Council can continue to deliver its strategic outcomes through legislative compliant, effective and ethical actions, be responsible for effective change management in the implementation of a portfolio of projects along with undertaking key stakeholder and customer engagement.

These roles will give you the opportunity to work with a dedicated and diligent team of professionals whilst playing a key role in Council’s infrastructure planning and maintenance for the benefit of the community and showcasing Council’s values in all that you do – Collaborate, Achieve, Respect and Evolve.

The Fine Print:

  • Package: $93,399 - $116,575 gross p.a. plus 11% superannuation
  • Hours of work: All three roles are permanent Full Time (35 hours) with an option of a 19-day month.
