Way Maintainer –Night Shift (Melbourne)

  • $35.39 per hour on a competitive EA + 30%-night shift loading, penalty rates and fortnightly EDO’s.

About the role

As the Way Maintainer, you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Network Development, Assets and Maintenance Group. 

You will be responsible for assisting the Melbourne Night Shift team with tasks involved with laying, aligning, repairing, and maintaining railway tracks from the CBD to Caroline springs & manor junction including the freight lines into the city.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • As directed, participate in the replacement and/or renewal of track and crossing materials i.e., sleepers, rail, ballast, and fastenings.
  • Clean up plant equipment and worksite and participate in general site maintenance. 
  • Use and maintain hand tools and minor mechanical equipment.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with appropriate OH&S standards and regulations.
  • Night Shift: Current roster is Sunday—Thursday 10:00pm – 6:00am.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Valid Victorian Driver’s License
  • Must have completed Year 10 or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a manual labouring role is advantageous.
  • The willingness to reliably work permanent Night shift. This will include overtime when required.

Remuneration for this position will be in line with the V/Line Asset Management Enterprise Agreement 2019). Current employees are expected to remain in their role for a minimum of 12 months before applying to new positions within V/Line.
