Out of the Dark is a boutique lighting business specialising in weddings, events and corporate installs across SEQ and Northern NSW. We are a very small team who enjoy a challenge and the opportunity to create something new and exciting for our clients. We are seeking a creative, organised and driven individual to join our team to handle the day to day management and operations of the business and assist with the ongoing development of our brand.
Ideal Candidate
- Event/design/interiors experience required
- Applicants with experience in other wedding-related fields, such as social media management, photography or floristry will also be highly considered and are encouraged to apply
- Must be able to work unsupervised and take initiative
- Has a genuine interest in weddings. You understand that this is more than just a ‘job’, you are helping people create one of the most memorable days of their lives
- Great written and verbal communication skills. Be able to create a visual picture with words.
- Has a finger on the pulse when it comes to what’s happening in the industry and with current trends
- Is technically minded (reasonable mathematical skills and a basic understanding of mechanics required for hanging structures)
- Attention to detail
- Driven to try new things and always looking for ways to improve what we do
- Ability to interpret styling briefs and make appropriate recommendations to suit
Key responsibilities
- Work with customers, stylists and venues to Design and quote lighting and structural installations for weddings and events from simple festoons through to high end, large scale projects
- Ensure all enquiries are responded to in a timely manner
- Logistics and scheduling for upcoming bookings
- Occasional assistance on installs if required
- Preparation of job documentation for install team
- General system and process development
- Issue and monitor invoices for upcoming events
- General administrative duties. ie. ordering stationery, filing documentation, inventory management
- Potential for more responsibility for the right candidate i.e. social media management, product sourcing, business growth and development
About the role
- Minimum 15 hours per week with potential for more during peak periods
- Flexible working hours
- Initial location will be at our warehouse in Archerfield with the opportunity to work from home once competent
- Work laptop will be provided
- Above award wages
