OCEANCROSS PTY LTD trading as ABBA Engineering is seeking multiple trade-qualified Welders First Class to join our team to fabricate, weld, and repair various metal materials and products using various welding techniques to meet client requirements. The positions are full-time contract including living and working in the Goldfields DAMA region. Working in our state-of-the-art facility located at 5 Kakarra Road, West Kalgoorlie WA and onsite at mining operations as required. Job description: 

We offer a wide range of services including shutdowns, labour hire, metal fabrication, mobile welding, polyethylene piping and dewatering specialities etc. This allows us to be exceptionally recognisable for providing solutions to the complex demands of the world’s leading mining companies. Relocation assistance maybe an option for the right candidates relocating to Kalgoorlie.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Fabricating and repairing metal products using various welding techniques and tasks.
  • Assembling, welding, and repairing pressure vessels and pipes to relevant specifications to meet job requirements.
  • Grinding, cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools and cutting using flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines (including friction and gas cutting).
  • Welding (including GMAW, TIG, stick), polishing, cropping, pressing to shape, bend, and align metal sections and pipes via hammering machinery, hands, heat treatment, and stress relieving of steels and poly welding.
  • Aligning and joining metal sections parts to be joined using various welding techniques including hand tools, bolting, and riveting.
  • Selecting, cleaning, and preparing metal sections and pipes and maintaining use of plant and equipment including cleaning and smoothing welds by polishing, filing, chiselling, grinding, and bathing in acidic solutions.
  • General cleaning and finishing products and plant equipment, as well as worksites.
  • Completion of timesheets and any site required paperwork.

Qualifications:

Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication 

Current unrestricted C Class Drivers Licence with intention for class upgrade to MR Licence as required

Current Forklift Licence

Confined Space Ticket

Working at Heights Ticket

Elevated Working Platform Licence

Skills & competencies:

Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in welding.

Communication: the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication style depending upon the audience.

Attention to Detail: excellent attention to detail when communicating with others, both internally and externally.

Time Management/ Organisation: accomplish objectives effectively within time frame given and carry out administrative duties within portfolio in an efficient and timely manner.

Overnight or multisite stays away for work will be required to fulfil the requirements of the role.

Maintain the ability to be site cleared which may include passing medical and security requirements

REMUNERATION:

The annual remuneration guide is from $90,000.00 – $110,000.00 plus superannuation based on experience.
