Welder / Metal Fabricator

Recently relocating to Somersby to enable expansion of operations, Alliance Metal Solutions are seeking a qualified and experienced Welder to join our growing team. The role involves working independently in preparing and fabricating assigned work exact to provided workshop drawings and specifications.

Starting out with just the two of them and a whole lot of grit 17 years ago, owners Shane Blewden and Sean Carragher have grown Alliance Metal Solutions to a large sheet metal manufacturer serving industries Australia wide, including construction, telecommunications, mining, energy, agriculture, FMCG and medical.
Our services include product design, tube laser cutting, flat bed laser cutting, turret punching, plasma cutting, MIG/TIG welding, CNC machining, assembly and powder coating.
Hands-on in a fast paced, dynamic business, Shane and Sean lead a team of tradespeople in a working environment that values teamwork, initiative, open communication and a can-do attitude.
The Position
As a Welder with us, you will be responsible for:

• reviewing workshop drawings and specifications to understand job requirements
• determining fabrication, tools and processes required to ensure quality manufacture exact to drawings;
• selecting and preparing required materials;
• preparing and aligning parts to be joined using measuring instruments and hand tools
• cutting sections and shapes using hand tools and metal cutting machines
• shaping and bending metal sections
• joining metal sections using various welding techniques
• examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision
• cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chilselling and grinding
• finishing products by cleaning, polishing and filing

To be successful you must have:

• AQF Certificate IV; or,
• AQF Certificate III with at least two years of on-th-job training; or
• at least 3 years of relevant experience may substitue for formal qualifications, subject to testing; and
• if not an Australian citizen, hold a valid visa with permission to work in Australia
