The Opportunity
We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Welding Program Lead to join us in our Networks team in Thomastown, Victoria for 24 months.
Reporting to the Field Delivery Team Lead you are responsible for the development of a framework to manage welding activities across Victoria and NSW, and to manage the initial capability uplift program. You will be working closely with your team members, other APA staff, contractors and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise and direction to Field Delivery teams and stakeholders to ensure improvement in quality assurance and quality control of steel and welds.
- Coach, mentor and provide technical support to field delivery personnel and contractors to ensure the successful delivery of projects
- Ensuring Weld Procedure Qualifications and Welder Qualifications are kept current and relevant to current Australian Standards and APA requirements.
- Reviewing and compiling all relevant welding and fabrication documentation that ensures compliance to Australian Standards and APA requirements for steel pipeline welding activities, including production welds, weld repairs, In Service Welding and station projects
- Developing framework to allow the Victorian & NSW Capital Delivery team to manage all welding requirements
Your background
- Technical Trade or engineering background (essential)
- Experience in a quality environment using national standards and codes.
- Possess a AS1796 Certificate 10 or Welding Inspectors Certification.
- Experienced with PE and steel welding activities
- Strong experience in facilitating welding capability uplift programs
About the Team
Within the Victoria Networks BU, the Capital Delivery team is responsible for managing the capital works program safely, on time, in line with budget, and in manner that complies with internal and external governance requirements and standards. The team is accountable for network growth and augmentation related capital work, recoverable works and new customer connections.
