About the role
UGL are currently seeking a suitably qualified Welding Supervisors to oversee the welding activities on a brownfields construction project in Darwin, Northern Territory. The project will commence in March 2024, with an estimated 9–12-month duration. You will be a local Darwin resident and work a 5/2 roster, or work a 19/9 fly in fly out roster.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of the project, meeting quality standards, safety regulations, and project timelines.
Key responsibility areas
1. Supervise and Lead: Oversee all welding activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, project specifications, and industry standards.
2. Safety Compliance: Enforce and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring that all SMP activities adhere to industry safety standards and company policies.
3. Quality Assurance: Monitor and inspect SMP installations and implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure the highest standards of welding craftsmanship are maintained.
4. Schedule Management: Develop and maintain a comprehensive schedule for SMP activities, coordinating with other disciplines to optimize project timelines.
5. Resource Allocation: Efficiently manage and allocate resources, equipment, and materials to meet project requirements and deadlines.
6. Communication: Foster effective communication within the SMP team and collaborate with other discipline supervisors and project managers to address challenges and ensure smooth project progression.
7. Problem Solving: Proactively identify and resolve issues related to SMP activities, providing innovative solutions to overcome obstacles.
8. Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely documentation of SMP activities, including daily reports, progress reports, and any required project documentation.
About You
You will inspire your team, draw on their diverse skills and create an environment where great ideas are heard, and everyone looks out for one another. Ideally you will have:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Welding supervision on brownfields construction projects.
Hold relevant welding certifications (AS1796 Certificate 10)
Proficient knowledge of structural, mechanical, and piping systems.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and industry best practices.
Proven track record of successfully managing SMP teams and delivering projects on time and within budget.
