About the role
Northern NSW Local Health District are seeking a full-time temporary WHIN clinician until January 27, 2025, for schools in Maclean (Maternity leave relief). The Wellbeing and Health In-reach Nurse (WHIN) Coordinator CNS2 is responsible for facilitating identification of health, wellbeing and social needs and the coordination of appropriate early intervention, assessments, and referral to services for school aged children and young people attending designated primary and secondary schools. The WHIN Coordinator works in identified local schools and applies their specialist clinical nursing knowledge, experience and skill in providing complex nursing care for school aged children and young people in these schools.
This vacancy is maternity leave relief for an initial period of up to 35 weeks for 38 hours per week; the hours and period of employment may change according to the maternity leave requirements. There is also the possibility of an extension at same / reduced hours.
A casual pool for NNSWLHD WHIN positions will also be created
If you have/are:

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse with a postgraduate qualification related to the specialty area of child and family health, or paediatrics, or adolescent/youth health nursing practice or other related and at least 3 years' experience in an area of Child and Adolescent Health. OR Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia with at least 3 years' experience in an area of Child and Adolescent Health. Enrolled in a postgraduate qualification related to the specialty area of child and family health, or paediatrics, or adolescent/youth health nursing practice or able to meet course entry requirements at the time of appointment. If no postgraduate qualification, will be appointed temporarily as a CNS2 (for up to two years) to work towards obtaining qualification
  • Understanding of and experience working with children and young people, including marginalised and at risk groups, as well as health promotion, prevention and early intervention approaches and evidence based practice
  • Ability to work within an interagency context, with an emphasis on relationship building, service delivery, quality of care and team cohesion, and an ability to identify and improve opportunities to enhance integration of care for children, young people and families
