The team
ASIC's Enforcement and Compliance Group (ECG) is responsible for the conduct of ASIC's initial inquiries, compliance and enforcement work across all sectors excluding markets. The ECG comprises Investigation and Enforcement Action, Enforcement Inquiries and Compliance, Enforcement Services and Enforcement Policy and Practice.
The role
As a Whistleblower Specialist, you will report to the Senior Executive Leader, Portfolio ECG and:
- Lead ECG's Whistleblower program including responsibility for the success of our Whistleblower program.
- Engage directly with Whistleblowers in a timely manner with sensitivity to and empathy with their situation, the parameters of Whistleblower evidence and investigation processes.
- Autonomously manage complex risk and legal analysis and continuous stakeholder management to deliver ECG outcomes in Whistleblower matters.
- Represent ASIC externally as required in Whistleblower-related forums and stakeholder liaison meetings.
- Coach and support ECG team members in relation to responding to Whistleblower reports and foster understanding of specific Whistleblower needs on a case-by-case basis.
- Act as a centre of excellence for witness management across ECG.
- Lead and deliver continuous uplift of ECG policies, procedures, and practices in relation to Whistleblowers.
- Accurately maintain, record and track reports and engagement and provide timely and accurate reporting as required.
About you
- A relevant bachelor's degree such as social work; law; psychology or public policy
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation to complex matters
- Experience dealing with distressed persons or witnesses
- Client/stakeholder relationship management, preferably gained within a legal, financial service, regulatory or corporate environment.
- Experience analysing, resolving and delivering results on complex client and stakeholder-related issues through deep analytical analysis of materials using strategic thinking on emerging issues and risks.
- An understanding of administrative and public sector laws in relation to Whistleblowers and investigations or demonstrate the capability to acquire this knowledge quickly.
- Experience in effectively presenting complex information to different target audiences through strong business writing skills and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to train, mentor and coach team members.
- Ability to deliver results and work independently with limited supervision, exercise sound judgement and be accountable for outcomes.
