The Company
A long standing commercial building and maintenance company that have been operating throughout Australia for over 10 years, with great success and an impressive portfolio of clients, projects and contracts. Due to a restructure in the business to facilitate growth, they are looking for a WHSO to come on board. They have recently added to their senior management team and are excited for the next stage of their journey. Starting as a family ran business, they cemented their name within the South East Queensland region and quickly expanded to other states, establishing themselves as a front runner in the commercial space, whilst keeping the culture collaborative and caring.
The Role
As the WHS Officer / Co-ordinator you will work alongside the management team including the newly appointed operations manager, business owner and HR Manager. Yor main focus will be to manage health and safety standards throughout site works in the Brisbane and Gold Coast area.
Duties of the role include:
- Managing and enforcing on site compliance through site audits.
- Ensuring ISO accreditation standards are being met
- Mentor site staff on WHS compliance and requirements
- Ensuring the safety management system fully complies with all applicable standards, legislative requirements and client expectations
- Identify internal and external safety training needs for the company and implement new processes to facilitate needs
- Manage internal and external audits
- Provide leadership, training and support to all employees in relation to the implementation of the safety management system
- Toolbox talks
- Facilitate the company's hazard identification and risk management processes
- Coordinate incident reporting and investigation processes ensuring all incidents are investigated and closed out appropriately
- Develop and implement emergency response procedures throughout the company
- Assist with coordinating the companies injury management, rehabilitation and return to work program
What you need
- Relevant qualification in WHS
- Solution focused
- Minimum 1 years experience in a similar role
- Experience with safety systems compliant to AS/NZS 4801, 9001, 14001
- Trade experience would be advantageous but not essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software applications
Due to the nature of the role, our client will only consider candidates that are happy to obtain:
- A test and tag certificate
- A Police Check and in line with clients condition of entry requirements (childcare/ Aged Care) hold/be willing to obtain
- Working with Children Card
- A current Covid vaccination status
