You will effectively investigate, gather evidence and provide advice regarding the ongoing management of litigated claims to minimise the total number and cost of common law claims and to maximise AWE outcomes, liability reductions and finalisations.
You will also develop relationships with all managed fund teams to promote and maximise the purpose and utilization of the WPI/WID team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage common law and litigated claims and ensure these claims are responded to in a timely manner;
- Attend Informal Settlement Conferences, Mediations, District & Supreme Courts when required or directed to providing instruction to Legal Service Providers on Litigated claims.
- Manage our Legal Panel to ensure we abide by the model litigant principles;
- Complete individual claim review on claims deemed to have potential WID risk.
- Complete individual claim review on any internal referrals or claims with high WPI or WID risk factors
- Conduct factual investigations when deemed necessary.
- Liaise with factual investigators to ensure appropriate information is gathered from the investigation;
- Diarise claims reviewed for follow up and further advice/action if needed
- Degree or other tertiary qualifications in Law - preferred
- Previous experience in managing a portfolio of Workers Compensation claims
- Good knowledge of WPI and Work Injury Damages claims;
