We are seeking a highly motivated person to fill a vacant position as a Wildlife and Feral Animal Control Technician. The successful applicant will be involved in most facets of field operations on introduced and wild animals including trapping, poisoning, shooting, monitoring and surveys. All equipment will be provided.
You will be based at our Welshpool office and may be required to work away for up to 2 weeks per month. (This is not a FIFO job on a regular roster away).
The job is full time based on an averaged 38-hour week. Commencement pay is from $33.60 to $35.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. Away work can be up to 12-hour days.
Work times are variable with early morning start times or sometimes working at night.
You must be a resident of WA (or be willing to relocate) and are an Australian Citizen.
The selection criteria requires you to have
- Have an unrestricted C Class WA driver’s licence (for manual vehicles).
- Experience in using firearms for Animal Control.* (a personal firearms license is not required although preferred)
- Experience in the use of a four-wheel drive off-road and have high level bush skills.
- A demonstrated ability to work alone and/or as part of a team.
- Sound verbal communication and possess data collection and computer skills.
- An ability and willingness to study and undertake courses and training for obtaining licences and qualifications.
- A WA Pesticide Licence endorsed for Feral Vertebrates would be looked upon favorably (but is not essential).
