About the role:
Serendip Sanctuary is one of Parks Victoria's key education centres and wildlife viewing destinations. The role of the Wildlife Ranger includes managing captive wildlife collections to ‘Best Practice' standards and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practices. The role would also support the management of the free ranging wildlife and greater reserve management. Key outputs from this role are, providing necessary animal welfare for the whole Serendip animal collection, maintaining animal husbandry records appropriate to the collection and regulations and supporting general land management actions identified in relevant District and Regional Action Plans.
We're looking for someone with:
  • Relevant Certificate in Animal Husbandry.
  • Demonstrated experience dealing with stakeholders and partners on a range of environmental or animal husbandry issues.
  • Demonstrated experience in provision on expert and technical advice and support.
  • The incumbent must be available to work weekends and public holidays if required.
  • A current Victorian driver's licence is required.

About the branch:
The Greater Geelong team delivers park services across the Aboriginal cultural landscape in the traditional Country of the Wadawurrung Peoples. This includes parks and reserves such as; Serendip Sanctuary, Lake Connewarre Wildlife Reserve, Edwards Point Wildlife Reserve, Salt Lagoon Wildlife Reserve, Ocean Grove Nature Reserve, Breamlea Flora and Fauna Reserve, Limeburners Lagoon Wildlife Reserve, Avalon Coastal Reserve, The Spit Wildlife Reserve, and Lonsdale Lakes Wildlife Reserve.
