Opes is undertaking sustainment services for a Tier 1 military integrator, located in South Australia. The highly cleared (AGSVA NV2) team manages a bespoke on-premises private cloud system supporting software development activities.
Role Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Windows Engineer to join our IT team. As a Windows Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance and support of Windows-based systems and services. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth operation and optimisation of our IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate should possess strong technical knowledge of Microsoft technologies along with excellent problem-solving skills.
Role Responsibilities
- Administration of Windows servers and Microsoft products such as Active Directory and SQL Server.
- Integration of system management and security tools into the Microsoft ecosystem.
- Management of relevant configuration applied to Windows servers, such as application whitelisting and endpoint protection policies.
- Monitoring system performance metrics to identify potential bottlenecks or areas for improvement.
- Troubleshooting problems promptly to minimise downtime.
- Developing scripts for automating routine tasks or system configurations.
- Collaborating with a cross-functional team to ensure seamless integration between different IT systems.
- Ensuring data integrity by implementing backup strategies and disaster recovery procedures.
Skills Required
- In-depth understanding of Windows Server operating systems.
- Proficiency in Active Directory management and Group Policy administration
- Experience with virtualisation technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V
- Strong troubleshooting skills in resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Excellent knowledge of scripting for automation purposes
- Solid understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP protocols, DNS, DHCP
- Knowledgeable about security best practices related to Windows environments.
Desirable Qualifications
- Proven experience working as a Windows Engineer or similar role within an IT environment.
- Microsoft certifications such as MCSA or MCSE would be advantageous.
- Experience in working within an ITIL framework is desirable.
- Experience with Tanium.
- Experience with Windows application packaging.
