Word Processing AssistantWord Processing | Brisbane MetropolitanClosing date: 21/07/2024Cooper Grace Ward is seeking a detail-orientated and motivated Word Processing Assistant to support our legal teams.Hours and locationThis is a WFH role (after an initial in-office training period) but we encourage regular office attendance thereafter to maintain team connection and facilitate training, administration, and IT assistance. Office attendance may be weekly, fortnightly, or monthly, depending on the right candidate’s circumstances and preferences.We offer a full-time position (Monday to Friday, from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm), but are open to adjusting or reducing the hours to accommodate the right candidate.Daily tasks include:
- preparing simple and complex legal documents (correspondence, agreements, court documents, reports, presentations etc.) in line with the firm’s precedents and style conventions
- transcribing lengthy meetings, interviews and teleconferences
- proofreading, formatting and styling supplied documents
- comparing documents (with software or manually, as required)
- electronic filing and document version management
- redacting
- liaising with legal teams and WP colleagues to manage task requirements and deadlines
- assisting legal teams with urgent formatting fixes or style questions
- other general document-related tasks, as requested.
- minimum typing speed of 80 wpm (high accuracy)
- excellent English language skills, including spelling, grammar, punctuation and proofing
- previous experience preparing high-quality documents within a legal, medical, government or other professional environment
- strong computer literacy and the ability to perform general troubleshooting
- Microsoft Word expertise including:
- document formatting
- creating and managing styles
- tables
- bookmarks and cross-referencing
- experience and skill within other Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel etc.) plus some familiarity with Adobe Acrobat
- experience with electronic filing and document management systems
- the ability to work independently, exercise judgement, set priorities and meet deadlines
- the ability to learn and quickly adapt to new systems and evolving processes
- excellent attention to detail
