Exciting New Role- Permanent, Full-time, Herston | Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement that applicants be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons | Support the development, delivery and evaluation of strategic allied health initiatives including First Nations specific strategies in collaboration with staff from areas across Queensland Health

The role  
The role involves providing crucial Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives to ensure the culturally responsive and safe delivery of the First Nations Allied Health Graduate Development Pathway and other allied health workforce initiatives. Collaborating closely with key stakeholders under the guidance of the Director Allied Health First Nations Peoples, you will contribute to the development, management, and continuous improvement of these programs. Responsibilities include information and data collection, environmental scanning, and analysis to identify strategic challenges and opportunities for the allied health workforce. 

You will efficiently coordinate designated projects, monitor their performance, and contribute to the development of strategies for improvement. Additionally, you will liaise with various stakeholders, develop formal correspondence, and actively participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance Branch activities and processes. All activities will be conducted in strict adherence to defined service quality standards, health, and safety policies, ensuring the provision of high-quality, safe services and workplaces.

The successful person
To excel in this position, it is essential that you are of Aboriginal Australian and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, self-identify as such, and can confirm your eligibility for this Indigenous Identified role either through a written assertion or by providing documentary evidence as part of your formal application.

 The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of social and cultural issues specific to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, demonstrating the ability to seamlessly integrate into the work environment. As the Workforce OfficerFirst Nations your role is to support the development, delivery and evaluation of strategic health initiatives including First Nations specific strategies. Furthermore, the role requires proven skills in gathering and critically analysing data from diverse sources to formulate and implement program/project management systems and processes. Effective collaboration within a team, providing advice to senior management, and managing competing priorities to meet established deadlines are also key attributes expected in this role.

The Division is also accountable for leading the development, implementation and evaluation strategies to ensure an appropriately skilled allied health workforce meets the current and future health service needs of Queensland.
