About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the newly created position of Workplace Trainer & Assessor – Track. This position sits within the Network & Infrastructure division and reports directly to the Maintenance Manager – Track. The responsibilities for this role include planning, developing, delivering and reviewing technical training and competencies, assessments and associated material specific (including on the job coaching and support) to the Track function, in liaison with the relevant stakeholders. The incumbent will also maintain competency standards to meet regulatory obligations and develop and review procedures.
The successful candidate will identify and recommend appropriate training to ensure Track employees are competent to required standards and in accordance with relevant work procedures. They will plan, deliver training and coordinate the delivery of training programs, including assessments for Track employees and any other associated staff.
About You
To be successful in this role you must have:

  • A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent qualification or ability to achieve the qualification within an agreed timeframe.
  • Competent to be considered a Subject Matter Expert for the purposes of training for in track maintenance and inspection.
  • Considerable and relevant experience in maintaining and inspecting permanent way.
  • Good knowledge and applied understanding of relevant technical standards and codes of practice, particularly as they apply to track and Railway Safety Management.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills including a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and to build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and develop others.
There is one full time, permanent position available for an immediate start. Applicants must have availability to work unsocial and irregular hours including shift and weekend work when required.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur for up to 12 months.
