Trinity College is a multi-site, independent, co-educational Anglican College founded in a liberal educational tradition in northern Adelaide. A part-time position exists in a specialised role working alongside the ordained Chaplain and the pastoral care staff of the College to provide an extra level of support to students of the College. This position is 2 x 7.5-hour days over 40 weeks; with the arrangement of hours being negotiated to suit the successful candidate. This position is available for immediate filling.
Key accountabilities include:
Youth Chaplains are responsible for supporting the spiritual, social, and emotional wellbeing of students regardless of faith or beliefs. A Youth Chaplain must be able to provide support for a range of day to day matters affecting the school community and communicate effectively with a diverse group of people. They can become involved in a wide variety of work tasks including health, social and values education and emotional support. It is expected that the Youth Chaplain supports and works with the Principal, the College Chaplains and pastoral care staff to refer students to appropriate services when required.
What you will need to succeed:
  • a Certificate IV in Youth Work; or
  • a Certificate IV in Pastoral Care; or
  • an equivalent qualification which must include competencies in 'mental health' and making appropriate referrals
Desirable:
  • Work experience in the education/school sector, in particular student support
  • Knowledge of College policies, procedures and work systems
