  • Position: Part-Time, Fixed Term until 31 September 2024
  • Salary: $71,128 - $74,738 pro rata p.a. (based on skills & experience) plus super plus salary sacrifice options
  • Locations: Ovens Murray

About the role 

The Youth Cultural Mentor position works alongside Senior Youth Practitioner to deliver on the Strong and Resilient Communities Project (SARC) this is designed to reduce the barriers to social, civic, and economic participation for young people aged 12 – 18 living in the Ovens Murray area. This program is aimed at supporting young people who are at risk of becoming disengaged or who have already disengaged from education and training.

About You

  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding for the values that underpin VACCA’s vision and purpose.
  • Demonstrated experience in working and engaging with Aboriginal families and children.
  • Knowledge of the issues faced by children and young people in care/ leaving care.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ensuring young people’s voices are at the centre of our work and align with self-determination principles.
  • Competency requirement: time management, flexibility, problem solving, interpersonal skills, risk management.
  • Personal Attributes: empathy, compassion, resilience, motivation, advocacy, and professionalism
  • Requirement: Current COVID-19 vaccination, a Working with Children’s Check for a paid employee (or willingness to obtain) and a valid Victorian Drivers Licence
