Youth Engagement Coordinator
The Youth Engagement Coordinator delivers the Work It Out program to support young people aged 15-19 to re-connect with education, employment or further training, and maintain their engagement for a period of 26 weeks. A key part of this support is working with young people and their families to address any challenges which are preventing successful engagement.
Position type: Part-time Fixed Term Contract through August 2024 with the possibility of an extension for the right candidate.
Award classification: Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award, Level 3 Paypoint 4
Location: This position is based in Tweed Heads and will involve travel as well as occasional trips to Lismore.
Main duties/responsibilities:
Provide case management and wrap-around support including the development and implementation of individualized career and transition plans;
Work with young people and their families to address any challenges or barriers to engagement with education and employment and make referrals to outside services as appropriate;
Promote the Work-it-Out program to increase awareness and encourage participation;
Coordinate and carry out program record keeping, ensuring that all records are an accurate reflection of the services provided;
Work closely with stakeholders including parents and families of young people, schools, communities, RTOs, and youth service providers;
Establish links to local and regional employers and broker employment opportunities, including work experience, apprenticeships and traineeships and other part-time and full-time work.
