The purpose of this position is to support the delivery of Lifecare’s COACH Community Mentoring program. COACH coordinators work closely with the Crossway Church community to mobilise mentors to support families and young people to explore their strengths, define and achieve goals and, ultimately, step toward a brighter future.
Joining with a team Coordinators, the Youth & Family COACH Coordinator has three key focus areas:
- Screening, training and ongoing supervision of volunteer mentors
- Receiving referrals and intake of participants
- Matching participants with suitable mentors and case managing mentoring relationships
The role involves some weekend and evening work to match mentor availability. The successful applicant will foster professional, strength based, solution focused relationships with young people and their families connected to LifeCare and COACH.
Qualifications:
- A tertiary degree or Diploma in Social Work, Youth Work or similar or working towards such qualification
Knowledge:
- Child protection legislation
- Case management principles or youth work principles
- Broad knowledge of community sector – support options and referral pathways
Skills:
- Ideally have 2 years working experience providing direct case management support to families and/or young people
- Experience working with survivors of family violence
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to organise, set and implement multiple tasks and priorities
- Professional administrative skills
- Demonstrated people skills and proven ability to work effectively in a team
- Ability to provide pastoral care to volunteers
- Current drivers license and use of own vehicle essential
