This is a Permanent Part-time (19 hours per week – 0.5 EFT) opportunity based in Blacktown within our Homeless Youth Assistance / Child Youth and Families Program.

Position Purpose:
This position is situated within the Homeless Youth Assistance Program which provides early intervention support and accommodation to young people who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless.
The primary objective of HYAP is family restoration and this is achieved through supporting young people to transition to family (if safe) through a restoration plan.
The Therapeutic Youth Worker is responsible for the delivery of high quality residential supports that promotes the emotional, social and behavioural needs of vulnerable young people.
The Therapeutic Youth Worker is a member of the HYAP team and reports to the House Supervisor.
Primary Objectives:
- Provide trauma-informed accommodation and support services that achieve positive outcomes for young people and their families;
- Provide young people with safety, stability, predictability and consistency by implementing the house guidelines and supporting the implementation of individual strategies and plans;
- Participate in team meetings, house meetings and case review meetings to ensure that young people receive services that meet their needs.
Key Selection Criteria:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Contribute to the development of a safe, nonviolent, nurturing home-like environment (both inside and outside) that supports the physical and emotional safety of each young person;
- Work collaboratively with the Caseworker and other HYAP staff to develop strategies and plans for individual young people that address presenting issues, facilitate growth and change through the development of new skills and perspectives, and increase engagement in education, employment, training and community activities;
- Role model and reinforce positive behaviour through social learning, social responsibility and emotional intelligence;
