Youth Mentor / Counsellor

Yara Family Connections is looking for an experienced Youth Mentor / Counsellor to work outreach in the Northern Suburbs. 

About us: 

We are an ethics based organisation based in the Northern Suburbs, we were founded based on Community demand for safe and accessible services. Services that meet the needs of families as they exist today and ensure Cultural safety in all aspects of service delivery. We primarily, but not exclusively deliver programs to Aboriginal young people and their families. 

The Role: 

• SCHADS Level 3-4 (hourly rate of $42.55- $49.08 per hour based on experience) 
• Casual with the possibility of ongoing. 

The position works as part of a small team and includes the delivery of both group programs and individual mentoring/counselling. All services are provided in-school or in community centres. Group programs include, but are not limited to Yara Circus and Yara Basketball. This position focuses on the therapeutic components of the programs, supporting young people to build resilience and confidence. A small case load of individual clients is expected as part of the role. 

About you:

• You will have undertaken formal study, renumeration will be based on the successful applicants qualifications and experience. 
• You will have experience in delivering programs and services to young people.
• You will have an understanding of working with Aboriginal young people and their families.
• Wednesday availability required. Additional hours/days can be negotiated within the position requirements.
