About the position
The Youth Program Officer is responsible for cultivating environments and opportunities that support young people’s wellbeing, social connection, engagement, and empowerment by designing, developing, and implementing comprehensive programs that address the needs and interests of the young people aged 8 – 25 years.
These programs will align with Onkaparinga Youth’s focus areas of music, arts, recreation, skill development, entrepreneurship, social connection, wellbeing, and leadership.
As a member of the Youth Team, the Youth Program Officer will be a professional and collaborative individual with excellent communication skills, capable of thriving in a dynamic work environment. The role requires flexibility, including a willingness to work evenings and weekends to meet the needs of young people.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating Youth Programs and activities that promote wellbeing, social connection, engagement, and empowerment.
- Knowledge of Youth Development principles and best practices, with the ability to apply this understanding to create inclusive programs that address the diverse needs, interests, and challenges of young people.
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive, professional relationships with young people, providing mentorship and support to facilitate personal development.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively promote Youth Programs and engage with stakeholders, including young people, caregivers, community members, and service providers.
- Experience in managing program budgets, including internal and external funding, and supporting volunteers in accordance with national volunteer standards.
