AddressLynall Hall Community School (LHCS) is a small, progressive and inclusive all-gender government secondary school (7-12), located in Richmond, with a senior secondary campus on the Merri Creek in Coburg. LHCS caters to a small but diverse cohort of young people. Our team of teachers, education support workers, clinicians and Youth Workers collaborate closely to maintain an environment that is supportive of all students, including at-risk and vulnerable young people.

Our objective is to engage students in the Victorian Curriculum, VCE, VCAL, VET, VCE Vocational Major within a framework of School Wide Positive Behaviour Support and Respectful Relationships to prepare them for a positive post-school pathway.
At Richmond we offer a program based on the Victorian Curriculum for Years 7-10 with additional programs to support the social-emotional development of our students. Student timetables are frequently modified to meet their specific needs. Years 7-10 programs lead into flexible senior secondary options based on VCE (including VCE Vocational Major) and including a range of VET subjects.
At Coburg students work towards completing a VCE - Vocational Major with a focus on VET workshops (Automotive, Building and Construction, Furniture and Cabinet Making, Music, or Cookery).
KSC1. Demonstrated skills and experience in the provision of support to young people with significant mental health issues including anxiety, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, and behaviour associated with childhood trauma.
KSC2. Demonstrated ability to assess student needs, collect and maintain accurate student records, develop case plans and appropriate interventions, and plan and facilitate relevant programs in consultation with the team leader and other relevant colleagues.
KSC3. Demonstrated capacity to work cooperatively with a range of people including teachers, education support staff, students, parents/carers and community organisations.
KSC4. Demonstrated high level knowledge of student risk management, crisis intervention techniques and strategies.
* A tertiary qualification in Youth or Social Work and/or extensive experience relevant to the position will be required
Due to the varying levels of social and emotional success, and the implications of these experiences on engagement, students enrolled at LHCS require expert wellbeing support. Youth Workers will be able to work with students, families and associated professionals to ensure the highest level of support is in place and that the support is ongoing and relevant to our students' needs. The successful applicant will be able to work with colleagues and the wellbeing team leader to develop and implement clear individual and group-based interventions and strategies. They will be confident to report on individuals' progress, highlighting key strategies to support growth and how they can be implemented in a classroom setting.
- Report to, and be guided by, the Student Support Team Leader
- Attend weekly cross-campus team meetings and attend twice-weekly
- Develop individualised wellbeing recommendations to support students and help facilitate internal wellbeing referrals
- Respond to student wellbeing and health education needs (including sexual health)
- Refer students to appropriate support agencies and services
- Provide information about services and resources for students and carers
- Maintain appropriate data and reporting
- Assess and manage risk and report where required to do so
- Participate in intake/enrolment meetings and liaise with relevant staff at a student's previous school/s
- Attend and contribute to Student Support Group (SSG) meetings/Care Team Meetings (CTMs) as required
- Support colleagues in school-wide positive behaviour support (SWPBS) processes, including the school's Continuum of Response to behaviours of concern
- Collaborate with teachers to plan and implement morning check-in
- Appropriately and ethically manage the use of and access to school resources as it pertains to student wellbeing services
- Participate in supervision and regular student wellbeing de-briefings
- Develop strong positive relationships within the local school network and with external agencies
- Advocate for the work of the school when speaking with external professionals/agencies
