About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Youth Worker who is passionate about working with young people in challenging environments.
Working at Lake Haven and surrounding suburbs, the Youth Worker will work with the Central Coast team to deliver Streetgym, Care Coordination, and other youth focused activities across multiple sites.
You will also support our Coordinator to keep our Y Space Online platform current by liaising with community stakeholders to update listings and sourcing information to support young people so it would be awesome if you are comfortable on a computer.
The successful candidate will support other youth initiatives delivered by the Y NSW including events and community-based activities.
Essential Criteria
- Experience working within a challenging environment and delivering outreach programs & activities.
- Minimum Certificate III in Youth Work, Community Services or related field
- Strong administration skills and use of technology (experience with wordpress an advantage)
- Demonstrated ability working in a performance driven environment to meet performance targets and funding requirements.
- Understanding of current issues facing young people, particularly Central Coast youth, and support service pathways.
- Ability to work individually with minimal supervision and part of a team.
- Confident to lead and participate in recreation activities.
- HLTAID004/ HLTAID012- Current First Aid and HLTAID009/ HLTAID001- Current CPR
- Working with Children Check (Employee)
- Current drivers’ licence with own car
Desirable
- 2 + years’ experience working with vulnerable young people in a community setting.
- Demonstrated experience in group facilitation skills, assisting and supporting young people with complex issues, in group settings and one on one.
