What You Will Be Doing
The registrar will be primarily based at Frankston Hospital where they will be part of the Integrated Pain team consultant liaison service for acute inpatients. This team includes Pain Medicine Specialists and Clinical Nurse Consultant. This includes management of patients with acute on chronic pain, with cancer- related pain, for theatre based pain procedures and with Persistent Pain as a comorbidity to an acute admission. The registrar will also participate in the multidisciplinary outpatient clinic and pain management program at The Mornington Centre.
Pain Registrars are experienced medical practitioners who work within a multidisciplinary team. They need to have a postgraduate specialist qualification and be part of the Faculty of Pain training program.
The position also involves regular teaching with tutorials, journal clubs, Grand Rounds, radiology meetings and clinical audit meetings as well as other training within the subacute cluster of Rehabilitation Medicine, Palliative Care and Aged Care. There is an opportunity to participate in teaching medical students, perform and present audits and undertake research.
Performance is supervised and monitored by accredited Pain Medicine Physician supervisors to ensure education and training needs are met.
What You Need
We anticipate you will have:
  • MBBS degree (or equivalent)
- Eligible for registration with AHPRA as a medical practitioner
- Have a minimum of 3 years postgraduate training (Be PGY4 or above)
- Sound clinical knowledge, skills and experience in contemporary medical and evidence based practice
- Ability to work as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team
