We have an exciting opportunity for a 3D Printing Technician to join our team!
About this role
As a standalone 3D Printing Technician, you will have ownership and responsibility for the operation of our 3D printers.
You’ll be key in creating 3D printed components, taking a designer's CAD design and managing the printing process that brings it to life. You’ll make sure machines are set up correctly so every measurement and angle are spot on. You’ll need to be precise and have exceptional attention to detail. In addition to the 3D printing, you will also run our laser engraving machine and supporting injection moulding production.
The job requires work and coordination with engineers and designers equally to ensure high quality results.
The role also includes:
- Calibrating the machines, load the materials and review the designs before each job
- Managing printer schedules to minimise downtime
- Reviewing CAD designs to make sure they’re suitable to print
- Ensuring 3D printed components structural supports are sanded, cut, snapped off or dissolve
- Checking the quality of each printed piece
- Troubleshooting when pieces don’t print correctly
- Liaising with purchasing to order print materials and other supplies
- Programming laser engraving machine from CAD data
- Supporting production of injection moulded components
About you:
- Relevant qualification in engineering or equivalent diploma/degree (desirable, but not essential)
- Previous experience in a 3D Printing Technician role
- Previous hands-on experience with 3D printing technology and different 3D printers
- Knowledge of 3D printer maintenance preferred
- Knowledge of hand and power tool use preferred
- Knowledge of laser engraving and injection moulding, an advantage but not required.
- Knowledge of manufacturing production and processes.
- Proficiency with typical 3D CAD packages
- Ability to troubleshoot and effectively resolve technical issues
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work within tight deadlines and work autonomously.
- Organised and detailed oriented
- Eligibility to meet Baseline security clearance requirements.
- Not be a prohibited person under Section 3 of the Firearms Act 1996 (Victoria).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
