Our reputation of community minded, inclusive and progressive is matched to none.Job description:An exciting opportunity exists for RUSON/RUSOM EFT for the Northern Health Aboriginal andTorres Strait Islander nursing/midwifery Cadetship About the Cadetship: The Northern Health Aboriginal andTorres Strait Islander nursing/midwifery Cadetship provides the opportunity for paid employment experience, while being provided with cultural and clinical support to students who are Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander undergraduates currently undertaking a Bachelor or Masters degree in a nursing/midwifery. The Role will: • Assist the nursing team with delivery of safe and quality patient centred care• Work under the delegation and supervision of a RN• Develop and refine skills (within student scope of practice and position description)• Provide extensive support offered through Preceptors, Professional Mentors, Educators, NH Nursing Workforce and Cultural Peer Supervision• 2 paid shifts a fortnight (minimum 40 shifts in the year)• Access to cultural study days/leave and a culturally safe place• Support to attend the CATSINaM Conference (Congress of Aboriginal andTorres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives).• Applying learning directly, strengthening work readiness and exposure to the workplace• Increased confidence and competence within career pathway and provision of quality patient care (as delegated)• Establishment of professional networks• Secure onsite parking is available on all campuses at a reduced rate for staff About you: • Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander undergraduate registered nurse/midwife• Live in Victoria and maintaining a pass grade in all subjects• Have completed your first year of your Masters or Bachelor of Nursing / Midwifery• Commitment to 2 shifts per fortnight (minimum 40 shifts over the year)• Study load and placement commitments are taken into consideration with shifts if requested• Ability to attend cultural study days/CATSINaM• Strong communication skills Next Steps . . .
