Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander Education Officers

Aboriginal andTorres Strait Islander Education Officers (IEOs) fulfil an important role in ACT public schools by supporting school leaders, classroom teachers and other school staff to improve their knowledge and practice of cultural integrity. This includes the development and sourcing of teaching and learning resources related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders histories and cultures; and supporting schools to build relationships and understanding between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous students, families, and community members.

Mandatory

• Must have current ACT Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) Registration

DESIRABLE

• Relevant qualifications in education, community services, youth work or related fields.
• Possession of a current driver’s licence and access to a private vehicle.

Notes: There are several positions available with both permanent and temporary (12 months) available. This is a designated position in accordance with s42, Discrimination Act 1991 and is only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage is considered essential and therefore a Confirmation of Aboriginality may be requested. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. For interstate applicants, who are offered a position, relocation reimbursement will be available in accordance with the Administrative and Related Classifications Enterprise Agreement 2023-2026.
