- Salary: $84,522 to $94,003 - ASO5 - Full Time / Ongoing appointment
- establish and coordinate a model of male Aboriginal Ambassadors who will attend yarning circles hosted by the Men's health and Wellbeing Officer to transmit knowledge to community members using storytelling (yarning). Yarning Circles will take a holistic approach to health incorporating Chronic Disease (cancer) risk factors, cancer screening, and mental health.
- implement evidence-based approaches that facilitate improved health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men in regard to the prevention of a range of Chronic Diseases including cancers.
- work within the scope of practice for a health promotion role and in a way which is respectful of Aboriginal men's culture and practices.
- contribute to the development and implementation of strategies aimed at increasing the participation rates of Aboriginal men in bowel cancer screening within the population target groups on a local/regional and State-wide basis.
- A National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving 'Unsupervised Contact with Vulnerable Groups' is required for this position (E.g. aged care employment or work involving vulnerable clients)
- A DHS 'Working With Children Check' (WWCC) is required for this position
- This is an Identified Aboriginal Health Role. In accordance with Section 52(2) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (SA), applicants for this position must be men of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
- Substantial intrastate travel required including to remote locations.
- Appointment is subject to immunisation risk category requirements. There may be ongoing immunisation requirements that must be met.
