Overview:The Aboriginal Chronic Disease Worker - Men's Screening is responsible for contributing to the development, management, and delivery of a quality and culturally appropriate and effective programs aimed at improving health and wellbeing in Aboriginal communities across the state.The incumbent will:

• establish and coordinate a model of male Aboriginal Ambassadors who will attend yarning circles hosted by the Men's health and Wellbeing Officer to transmit knowledge to community members using storytelling (yarning). Yarning Circles will take a holistic approach to health incorporating Chronic Disease (cancer) risk factors, cancer screening, and mental health.
• implement evidence-based approaches that facilitate improved health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men in regard to the prevention of a range of Chronic Diseases including cancers.
• work within the scope of practice for a health promotion role and in a way which is respectful of Aboriginal men's culture and practices.
• contribute to the development and implementation of strategies aimed at increasing the participation rates of Aboriginal men in bowel cancer screening within the population target groups on a local/regional and State-wide basis.

• Substantial intrastate travel required including to remote locations.
