The Position
This position will work with the Aboriginal Community Development Officer in developing and reviewing strategic documents that have a focus on Social Matters.
You will work with the community to deliver on actions outlined in AlburyCity Reconciliation Action Plan, other strategic documents and assist Community organisations to deliver events, such as NAIDOC and Reconciliation Week. It will work with key stakeholders to assist in identifying gaps, assist to build capacity and support programs to empower the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community.

Qualifications & experience
- Being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent is an essential requirement for this position
- Tertiary qualifications in Community Service or Social Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience in the community sector.
- Current Class C (Standard) Driver's Licence (Compulsory to have and maintain)
- Minimum 5 years experience working in a Community Development framework with a preference for working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Experience in the delivery of community outcomes.
- Provide administrative support to community groups when required.
- Develop and review strategic documents and reports for the Aboriginal Community Development Team.
- Establish and maintain relationships within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community.
- Implement actions within strategic documents that are relevant to the team.
- Represent Council on various committees such as NAIDOC & Aboriginal Advisory group Committees.
- Work with the community to deliver community events and programs such as Sorry Day, Reconciliation Week, NAIDOC Week and other significant events identified by the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
Hours
Based on a 35 hour week, with actual days and times being Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm, with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity’s RDO guidelines.
