About the Role
At CareSouth supporting families, children and young people iscore to our values. CareSouth is seeking an identified position foran Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person to join ourNowra Family Preservation team on a permanent full-time basis.
As a Family Preservation Caseworker you will be a part of a teamwhich works dynamically across the child protection spectrum. Atypical day could include:
- Visiting children, young people and parents in their homes.
- Working holistically with families and service providers to help families reach their goals.
- Supportive collaboration with a diverse team to share knowledge and insight to help achieve best outcomes for families on the Family Preservation program.
- Documenting goals, journey and milestones.
All applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or TorresStrait Islander heritage. Aboriginality is a genuine qualificationauthorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination ACT1977.
The successful applicant will have
- Diploma or Degree in related field or willing to enrol in relevant qualification (desirable). CareSouth will support the applicant to obtain.
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues facing vulnerable children and their families.
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and as a part of a high performing, close knit team.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective networks within a small community.
- Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding and commitment to Equal Employment Opportunity, Work Health and Safety, Cultural issues and the NSW Child Protection system.
- Current driver’s licence.
- Willing to undergo a National Police Clearance and obtain a (NSW) Working with Children Check clearance number and/or (ACT) Working with Vulnerable People Card.
