About the position

The ACC seeks highly motivated and suitably qualified academic for the position of Academic Operations Manager. This is a rare opportunity to be part of an innovative higher education college in the field of chiropractic studies and to shape the development of the teaching and learning environment.

Reporting to the Academic Dean, you will be joining a team with a spirited team culture to develop and manage the Academic Operations of the College, mentor less experienced academics and work with faculty to develop excellence in teaching and learning.

You will be responsible to develop, manage, monitor and report on the Academic Operations of the College. You will also work closely with the passionate chiropractors within faculty to drive development of teaching and learning capability and ensure innovation and excellence in the education of future chiropractic professionals. You will be supported to engage in a culture of scholarship and to contribute to the ongoing development of the ACC’s academic offerings.

You will work collaboratively with the Academic Dean on developing your teaching and learning and scholarship allocation, as well as academic mentoring and leadership development. 

Key responsibilities:

Working with the Academic Dean to support the vision of the college, the ACC Academic Operations Manager will:

  • Ensure the effective development of teaching and learning capability of the ACC faculty to underpin an environment of innovation and excellence in education of students.
  • Manage the identification and support of students at risk.
  • Manage the Academic Operations of the College to ensure that the processes for development, review and update of the programs are efficient, effective and drive innovation.
  • Review, assess and report on academic metrics and institutional academic benchmarks.
  • Work with faculty to develop authentic and effective assessment mechanisms.
  • Work with the Academic Dean and Stream Coordinators to allocate and manage faculty across the programs.
  • Manage academic learning equipment and materials.
  • Ensure that student feedback and peer advice on teaching is sought and responded to constructively.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, maintaining a broad knowledge of current research and scholarship to ensure that teaching meets expected standards.
  • Support and comply with the ACC’s quality assurance procedures. 
  • Participate in staff meetings and outreach activities such as open days, and contribute to any college committees to which appointed.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements in all aspects of work.
  • Uphold the ACC Ethos and Values in all aspects of work and engage in campus scholarly life.

Appointments to the position of Academic Operations Manager may also involve specific roles in the division as required by the Dean. 

Required skills and qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in the development of teaching and learning capability across a higher education provider.
  • Qualified at a Masters level or higher, preferably enrolled in or post-candidature PhD or equivalent.
  • Experience in a TEQSA regulated provider that is not self-accrediting.
  • Five years' relevant or related experience 
  • Exceptional organisational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently to meet competing deadlines.
  • Experience in curriculum development, writing and evaluation.
  • Demonstrate innovative approaches to curricula delivery and assessment (andragogy).

The role will require:

  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner and contribute to a positive team culture.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness and leadership in curriculum development and teaching with a proven commitment to excellence in teaching.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication and presentation skills 
  • Manage enhancements to student and faculty engagement, including timely feedback to students and faculty and effective student input to enhancements and improvements.
  • Facilitate effective engagement of students in the life of the College, including student participation in Staff-Student Consultative Committee and other activities as required.
  • Ensuring that the delivery of academic courses and units on the campus conforms to the relevant accreditation requirements in consultation with the Academic Dean
  • Provide timely reports, data analysis and assessments.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience within a continuous improvement framework. 
  • Experience with both on campus and e-learning teaching environments.
  • Demonstrated track record of, and ongoing commitment to, academic work and scholarship. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder skills.
  • Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills.
  • Experience in developing and mentoring early-career academics.

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Completion of a PhD or equivalent,
  • Track record in research including publications.
