We currently have a position available for an Automotive Electrician.
Main Responsibilities:
- Perform Mechanical repairs on buses, trailers, light vehicles and to include major overhauls as directed.
- Plan and implement the Vehicle Maintenance System (VMS) for scheduled preventative maintenance.
- Make emergency service calls for stranded buses.
- Record all service work done for vehicle history records.
- Carry out general workshop duties as directed (e.g. driving).
- Report needs for additional service or repairs to vehicles that have been detected during routine inspections. • Isolating and diagnosing electrical faults or issues in computer-based equipment in vehicles.
- Repairing, testing, and maintaining electrical parts and wiring.
- Dismantling and removing components as required.
- Make recommendations to the Workshop Manager for ordering and stocking all necessary repair parts (may also have to do ordering on an ad hoc basis)
- Always observe and maintain a high level of safety and ensure all tools and equipment that are used are safe.
- Ensure the workshop is maintained in a clean and safe state.
- Working week is Monday to Friday, plus on-call and after-hours duties/weekends as per rotating roster.
- Under supervision, learning the skills required to be part of the Workshop team.
- Report non-conformances and assist in resolution.
- Assist with or carry out in-process and final inspection as needed.
- Comply with all company procedures including OH&S procedures.
- Suitable certification or relevant experience.
- Bus, Truck or Trailer experience preferable or mechanical knowledge including mechanic-electrical systems, and their diverse components is beneficial.
- Preferred experience within a fleet management role or working with a variety of vehicles.
- Valid HR Licence and 'C' class driver's licence
- Previous experience in vehicle service workshops.
Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role.Skills:
- Ability to operate public transport vehicles in a safe manner.
- Ability to deal with customer situations and resolve issues.
- Mechanical aptitude and flexibility.
- Acceptable experience in the repair and preventative maintenance of heavy equipment.
