Job description

The Position

Scotch College has a unique opportunity for a positive, proactive, and passionate Academic Support teacher to join our Junior School on a temporary part-time basis (0.6 FTE) commencing as soon as possible for the remainder of 2024. This role will teach over four days until lunchtime.

Reporting to the Head of Academic SupportJunior School, this position will focus on helping classroom teachers differentiate their program and provide accommodations for students who require extra support to access the curriculum in an inquiry-based classroom. The successful candidate will facilitate intervention programs for both Numeracy and Literacy.  

Scotch Junior School is an International Baccalaureate School teaching the Primary Years Programme. We cater to students from Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten in our co-ed Early Learning Centre and for boys in Pre-Primary to Year 5. We offer an enriched curriculum with specialists teaching in a range of areas. Our greatly experienced team is committed to providing a high quality, engaging education for all our students.

Candidates must have the ability to build trusting relationships with boys, parents, and their colleagues. Experience or knowledge of inquiry learning is desirable.

The successful candidate will:

  • Experience working in Academic Support 
  • Experience and knowledge related to the delivery of intervention programmes 
  • Academic support or special needs training 
  • Attention to deliver engaging lessons that stimulate and educate students   
  • Competent technology skills relevant to the teaching areas 
  • Ability to use school databases 
  • Punctual and flexible, with good time management skills 
  • Be willing to work within a team, sharing their knowledge and expertise
  • Support the Christian ethos of the College
