We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the company's financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting regulations, and providing valuable insights to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and fixed assets.
- Prepare and analyse financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial transactions.
- Process payroll, including calculating wages, deductions, and tax payments.
- Prepare and file tax returns, including GST, PAYG, and income tax.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting, providing accurate financial projections.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Provide support and guidance to other departments on financial matters.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the construction or building supplies industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including Australian Accounting Standards (AASB).
- Proficiency in accounting software, such as MYOB or Xero.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
