Most of our clients are small to medium family businesses. They are well established and are long term clients, from a variety of industries such as medical, construction, professionals, real estate, retail, and IT. We often deal directly with the owners as they see us as an essential resource and guide to help them understand what their financial and tax obligations are, so that we can help them to grow their business.
What are you required to do as a Business Services Accountant?
We require an Accountant who can assist us with the following:
- Providing accounting services and assistance to deliver a range of compliance and business services to clients. This will include all accounting disciplines such as payroll; bookkeeping and management accounting; financial accounting, and taxation. You will be involved in the preparation of monthly management accounts, BAS, financial statements, FBT and tax returns for business clients
- Overseeing the bookkeeping process for YBG, reviewing the monthly management accounts and communicating with the clients and our outsource team
- Review and interpretation of financial statements
- Assistance with processing and summarising information for the Manager and Director
- Interacting with the client and their staff to understand their business to give the best possible service
- Supporting the growth of the practice by identifying areas of improvement and be instrumental in the implementation of new initiatives
- Taking active steps to self-learn to improve your technical skills, accuracy of work, communication skills and note taking
Who are we looking for?
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting
- Experience in accounting and bookkeeping with a minimum of 3 years’ experience gained in an Australian business and/or Accounting practice
- Demonstrate a high level of experience and skill with financial reporting software
- Good knowledge of Accounting software such as the Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB
- High level capability of the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
- CA or CPA qualification or working towards this
- Good knowledge of the various tax acts, both State and Federal, as well as other corporate requirements e.g., payroll tax, fringe benefits tax, ASIC and WorkCover
- A proven ability to improve business processes leading to more efficient outcomes
- A current Australian driver's license and reliable vehicle
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written, including the ability to form good trusting relationships with the client
- Excellent planning and time management skills with an ability to manage competing priorities
- Reliable, accurate and take pride in your attention to detail in all matters
- Committed to meeting deadlines, being well organised and disciplined
