Accountant
Our Law Firm is currently looking for and experience full-time accountant to support our business activities. You will be undertaking the accounting functions in our Sydney Office. The role is to maintain the practice Trust Account, accounts payable, receivables and managerial accounting. We are experiencing a growth in our department that provide legal and financial advice related to tax returns and other transactions for various businesses, with focus on the construction industry.
The main duties include:
- Providing taxation, accounting & business compliance services for a variety of clients of different size and entity type.
- Providing advice and reports on matters such as the purchase and sale of businesses, mergers, capital financing, taxation etc
- Preparing financial statements
- Lodgement of BAS for the company and the for the clients
- Reconciling bank balances Supervising office management/operations
- Maintaining trust and general accounts/billing/debt collection;
- Bank and credit card reconciliations for the company
- Management reporting - Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly/Half Yearly for the company
- Journal entries in XERO and reconciliations
- Assist with annual budgets and re-forecasting
- Actual vs Budget with analysis of variations
- Cash flow management
- Responsible for general ledger transactions
- Maintain fixed asset registers
- Client liaison/relationship management
- Ad hoc accounting tasks as directed by Company Director
Skills and experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Minimum 2- 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role
- Strong reconciliation skills
- Great communication skills
- Personable and happy to assist others in the office during busy periods
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Previous experience in job costing and accounting construction industry
- Exposure to XERO and Trust accounting is essential.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and ability to adhere to deadlines by the ATO, and deadlines by stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft office suite
- Problem solver who can ensure internal controls are complied with.
- Experience in a legal service environment.
