PURPOSE
At Legal Assistance we pride ourselves on providing seamless services to law firms, thereby assisting them with their client case preparation. Specialising in Personal Injury and Property damage claims assistance. Legal Assistance offers disbursement funding and factual interviewing/reporting services which are designed to help solicitors achieve positive outcomes for their clients.
The purpose of the Accountant role is to provide timely reporting and advice on the financial position of Legal Assistance, as well as to ensure ongoing liquidity and profitability of each function. As part of their reporting function, this role will prepare financial statements for lodging with regulatory bodies including the Australian Taxation Office.
REPORTING TO
The position reports to Director and Chief Executive Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
· Relevant qualification at the level of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or higher, and at least 2 years of relevant work experience
· Strong analytical and reporting skills.
· Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision.
· Experience reading and interpreting contracts.
· Self-motivated with good relationship management skills
· Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly and concisely.
· Knowledge of a foreign language will be an added advantage, especially Polish.
· Experience with the computerised systems BTMSoft/Olivs is essential.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
· Experience in developing reports using PowerBI would be advantageous.
· Completed AML/CTF course.
· A working knowledge of Action Step and it's financial reporting is essential.
· A sound understanding of NetDocuments.
· Understanding of disbursement funding.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Preparation of an accurate and efficient month end close, monthly management reporting and commentary to be submitted to Director/CEO.
· Assist in the preparation of financing terms for clients.
· Assist in the liaison with external auditors where necessary.
· Undertake consistent and timely monthly actual reviews of business units financials (P&L).
· Reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
· Accounts receivable functions and reporting.
· Manage accounts payable function and authorisations.
· Assist in maintaining internal audit and controls.
· Coordinate the efficient and timely execution of audit processes and tax compliance requirement.
· Assist in the refinement of management information systems and integrate / improve reporting frameworks (accounting systems/PowerBi).
· Assist in the improvement of internal controls and procedures.
· Provide financial support to clients.
· Supporting the Director/CEO and CEO of associated business on ad-hoc projects
LOCATION
The position will be based at Suite 104, Level 1, 109 Oxford St, Bondi Junction NSW 2022.
Full-time permament position.
