About the Opportunity
Mapei Australia has an opportunity for an Accountant to join our team.
The Accountant is responsible for providing timely and accurate recording and reporting of the organisations finances, including overseeing the payroll administration tasks.
The position will suit someone who is motivated, works well in a team environment, and has a systems optimization and continuous improvement mindset.
About the Role
- Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with our third-party payroll service providers
- Collecting and collating daily, weekly, and monthly timesheets
- Prepare and finalise wage, salary, and other related payments
- Oversee the processing and reconciliation of end of financial year
- Attend to payroll queries
- Assist in the end-of-month recording and reporting processes
- Complete daily bank reconciliations
- Preparation of the monthly BAS
- Assist the Senior Accountant and Finance Manager with the preparation of the monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Maintenance of the General Ledger and Cost Centre structures
- Generation of monthly customer progress claims
- Oversee the corporate credit card and expense management system
- Manage and maintain key supplier accounts including leased motor vehicle fleet, fuel cards, and corporate travel
- Implement and monitor appropriate financial systems, procedures, and controls to support the efficient and effective operation of the finance team
About you
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an accounting and/or payroll administration position, ideally within the manufacturing industry
- Completion of relevant tertiary qualifications (accounting degree or similar)
- Studying towards or possession of CPA/CA professional qualification highly regarded
- Experience in multi-site, fortnightly and monthly payroll cycles advantageous
- Previous experience working collaboratively and effectively with outsourced payroll service providers
- Advanced computer skills including with the Microsoft Office package suite (Excel, Outlook etc)

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Integrity with strong ethical underpinning
- Expert attention to detail
