Accredited Practising Dietitian

  • Part-time position (0.9) maternity leave cover

Diabetes SA has been delivering services to people with diabetes and their families since 1953. As a not for profit, member-based Association that is largely self – funded, our mission is to educate, advocate, support and fund research that provides better outcomes for people at risk or living with diabetes. 

Empowering people to live well with diabetes and raising awareness for those at risk is our vision for all South Australians. 

We are now seeking an Accredited Practising Dietitian to join the Health & Education team. The role will work closely with the existing Health & Education team to deliver comprehensive diabetes self-management programs in both a group and one-on-one setting. 

The Dietitian will have experience in a clinical or community setting providing education, information, and support in both a group and one-to-one situation, as well as experience in liaising with general practitioners and health professionals. Participation in our annual Youth Camps is a necessity, as well as experience in the development and delivery of health programs.

Essential criteria:

  • An appropriate Degree or Post Graduate qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Holds Accredited Practising Dietitian qualifications through Dietitian’s Australia.
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience working in dietetics at a clinical or community level.
  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of health education either in a one to one or group setting.
  • Commitment to continuing professional education.
  • Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of diabetes programs and services.
  • Knowledge of diabetes as a public health priority.
  • A sound knowledge of the goals of diabetes management, including dietary and exercise principles.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and client focused education.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • High-level interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplined team while demonstrating flexibility, adaptability, and initiative.
  • Current SA Driver’s Licence.
