An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified candidate with tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline to join the Day Program therapy team. The Day Program therapy team offers evidence-based therapy treatment programs for people with a range of psychiatric conditions.

 Position requirements

·         Mental health experience

·         Have the ability to assess the needs and interests of individuals and groups and plan activities within Mental Health inpatient clinic

·         Capacity to Plan, Organise arrange and run Creative and expressive Activities in a Mental Health Group Based program.

·         A sound knowledge and skill in running calming/relaxing and creative group activities

·         Understanding and experience of working in and with people with Mental Health conditions, as part of an inpatient program

Darwin Private Hospital is the only provider of private hospital services in the Northern Territory. As part of the Healthscope Group of Hospitals, it is a licenced 122 bed hospital providing a broad range of multiday and day surgery including, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Plastic and Reconstructive, Urology, Gastroenterology and ENT and Cardiac Catheter Laboratory. Our world-class private hospital attracts patients from across the greater Northern Territory, Western Australia, remote aboriginal communities and even offshore. We are co-located with Royal Darwin Hospital and partner in delivering specialised care to patients from across the top end of Australia.

In February 2021, a purpose built 18 bed inpatient Mental Health & AoD Unit, The Darwin Clinic opened, a new service for patients in the Northern Territory. It also incorporates a dedicated Day Rehabilitation Program. The Darwin Clinic will offer Territorians a range of vital mental health supports, including alcohol and drug withdrawal programs, and treatment for a range of mental health conditions including personality disorders, mood disorders, trauma and post traumatic stress disorders.

Desired Selection Criteria:

·         Experience in the development and creative delivery of group therapy

·         Membership of a relevant professional association

·         Strong Risk Management skills

·         Well-developed assessment and report writing skills

·         Capacity to work well in a team and practice reflectively
