Job description

The Division of Aged Care, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care have an exciting opportunity for nursing and allied health, as we are opening an Acute Frailty Unit at the Lyell McEwin Hospital.

The Acute Frailty Unit will provide comprehensive geriatrics assessment in a short-stay setting for patients requiring acute in-patient admission, with direct flow through to geriatrics subacute and out-of-hospital services.

A dedicated multi-disciplinary team will be employed within the Unit to enable a focus on early assessment and senior decision making.  The service will offer a hub of expertise and leadership in geriatrics, with a role in education for clinicians in the care of older people at LMH.

The team will comprise experienced clinicians with an interest in the care of older people, including senior nursing (Nurse Unit Manager and Nurse Consultant), a Geriatrician and geriatric advanced trainees, RMOs and senior allied health staff (physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social work, speech pathology, dietetics and pharmacy) and Associate/Clinical/Registered/Enrolled Nursing positions.
