ABOUT THE CLUB
The Albany Surf Life Saving Club is one of the oldest surf clubs in Western Australia, having celebrated its 100-year anniversary in 2017. The club boasts over 480 members, ranging in age from 5 to 60+ years. We are a vibrant volunteer community that not only provides valuable beach patrols during the summer months but also enjoys surf sports competitions most Sundays at Middleton Beach from November through April each year. Our Surf Sport activities include beach sprints, flags, swimming, board events, surf boat rowing, and other water events.
The club has a modern governance structure focused on delivering the highest standard of administrative services to its members and the community. This is an exciting phase for the club as we await the completion of the redevelopment of our facilities and set a new strategic direction through our new Strategic Plan 2024-2028.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Whilst reporting to the President, this role provides support to a number of disciplines within the club. A summary of these disciplines and the associated roles are:
1. Administration and Membership Services
To support the Director of Administration with the seamless administration of club activities, including membership registrations, collection of membership fees, maintain SurfGuard records, Corporate Governance etc.
2. Finance
Under the direction of the Finance Director, provide basic bookkeeping functions, including entry of financial data into Xero, loading payments for approval by authorised representatives, creating invoices in Xero, ordering club supplies, doing bank reconciliations, liaising with Accountant and compilation of requested reports.
3. Venue Hire
Managing the promotion and operation of the Venue Hire component of the club. This will include advertising the venue, dealing with enquiries, including meeting potential clients to show the facilities (during and outside of normal working hours), managing bookings of the facilities and ensuring that the facilities are ready before and after events.
4. Communication
To support communications across operations. Liaising with the Member Services team to support communications to members through social media, weekly newsletters and website.
5. Major Events
To provide administration support to major event coordinator as instructed.

This is a Permanent Part-Time role approximately 15hrs per week with a negotiable salary. Work hours may will be flexible but planned through negotiation with the President. Opportunity exists to negotiate working from home until the completion of our much anticipated redeveloped upgraded facility due to be completed in November this year. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Well developed organisational and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience and or ability to work in a volunteer organisation
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Friendly, positive and enthusiastic
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
- Previous bookkeeping experience essential (Xero preferred)
- Proficient in Microsoft 365
