About the roleA temporary opportunity exists at Neurosciences Department, Box Hill Hospital, for a skilled and enthusiastic
Acute Stroke Nurse with sound clinical knowledge and experience in stroke management. You will conduct clinical assessments and have ability to work autonomously as well as in a team environment.Eastern Health operates from many different locations: our largest sites include Angliss Hospital, Box Hill Hospital, Healesville and District Hospital, Maroondah Hospital, Peter James Centre, Turning Point Alcohol and Drug Centre, Wantirna Health, Yarra Ranges Health, Yarra Valley Community Health.
Major duties and responsibilities:- Provide excellence in stroke care and optimise secondary prevention for the stroke survivor in the acute stages of a stroke.
- Active participation in all emergency Stroke Codes during working hours, including comprehensive initial assessment and differential diagnosis of patients with stroke/TIA presenting to the ED
- Provide direct individual education and support to patients and their significant others following the diagnosis of stroke/TIA.
- Participate in quality initiatives and activities relating to stroke/TIA service
- Active involvement in stroke/TIA education program for all EH staff
About youTo be successful in the role you will have:
- Recent experience in stroke/neurosciences
- Post-graduate qualifications (preferred)
- Well-developed interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to work as part of a diverse team
- Strong commitment to high quality patient care
