About the roles
We currently have two ongoing positions available within our Engineering Team at Green Island.
Administration/Trades Assistant x 1 permanent part time
Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will work as part of a team predominantly assisting with administration related tasks within the team as well as providing some assistance with maintenance and repair related tasks across the island.
This role require a daily commute from Cairns to Green Island.
Responsibilities may include:
- Coordinating maintenance activities, including scheduling repairs, preventive maintenance, and inspections through job management and Microsoft software.
- Maintaining inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and equipment.
- Ordering necessary supplies to ensure availability.
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, including equipment maintenance history, inspection reports, and repair logs.
- Ensuring compliance with WHS requirements by documenting inspections and repairs.
Trades Assistant x 1 permanent part time
Reporting to the Engineering Manager this is a hands-on role working as part of a team assisting with various tasks essential for maintenance or repair projects on the island.
This role requires a daily commute from Cairns to Green Island with a minimum two night stay over on the island. Furnished accommodation and meals are provided for nights on the island.
Responsibilities may include:
- Material handling, equipment setup and preparation of work areas.
- Repairing damaged or worn structures, such as replacing rotted wood, fixing loose joints, or patching holes.
- Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as resealing joints, lubricating hinges, or replacing hardware.
- Maintaining tools and equipment in good working condition, including cleaning, sharpening, and lubricating.
- Performing scheduled preventive maintenance tasks across the island.
- Maintaining outdoor areas, landscaping, and grounds surrounding buildings or facilities.
- Performing tasks such as mowing lawns, trimming bushes, clearing debris, and applying pesticides or fertilizers as needed.

To be on the forefront for this opportunity, you will:
- Have experience in the safe operation of hand and power tools
- Have a current driver’s licence
- Be energetic, team-focused with a can-do attitude
- Have previous experience with a Trades Assistant role (not essential but highly regarded)
- Have a forklift licence (not essential but highly regarded)
