Two divisions – Santos Energy Solutions and Santos Upstream Gas and Liquids – are accountable for global portfolio management and strategy. 

About the Role 
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a skilled Advisor Policy and Research to join the Santos team. Based at our Global Headquarters in Adelaide, this position reports to the Head of External Affairs and will be responsible for identifying relevant issues, as well as developing and advocating public policy positions that progress Santos’ policy and advocacy priorities.
Key accountabilities:   
• Provide strategic analysis and reporting on key political, policy and regulatory matters. 
• Develop Santos’ submissions to relevant government and parliamentary inquiries and consultations in co-ordination with internal Santos stakeholders and the External Affairs team.
• Support in the development of advocacy related materials to support policy submissions, speeches, letters and other content
• Monitor and report Federal Parliamentary processes including legislative amendments, debates and speeches which are relevant to Santos.
• Manage Santos’ electoral commission obligations to ensure compliance with all laws relating to disclosure of payments to political parties
• Work closely with all members of the Government Affairs team and functional peers to support across-company initiatives and outcomes
• Identify potential stakeholder partnerships and facilitate the development and implementation of joint policy and advocacy campaigns.

About You
Holding a tertiary qualification in commerce, business, politics, communications or similar, it is essential that the successful candidate can demonstrate achievement in a professional government or regulatory affairs role. You will also possess an understanding of commercial issues and regulatory impacts, you are looking for a role where you can utilise your advanced policy writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
In addition, you bring your wealth of experience in the energy / resources sectors. Exposure to emissions reduction initiatives in the energy sector and any experience in influence in emerging regulatory regimes will be highly regarded.
