The Opportunity
Working in small nurse and GP teams, our After-Hours General Practitioner’s (AHGP’s) perform a vital role providing the delivery of virtual GP telephone and video consultations across all age groups and a variety of clinical presentations. Callers have come via the Health Direct nurse triage service and are escalated if their symptoms and presentation warrant a medical review.
The role operates within an approved scope of service and is designed to improve access to general practice services.
You will be provided with the equipment and technology to enable you to work from home – so this is a great flexible option to extend your career?
You will need to be able to work a minimum of 8 hours per week across 4pm to midnight on Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday. Shifts can range from 3 to 8 hours.
This initial engagement is until 30th June 2024.
In addition, you will need the following tools to do your job:
- Home Office – private space
- Reliable internet connection
- An active phone line in the same room as your workspace. We will provide an ADSL modem to ensure calls are secure. Some financial support if provided if you are comfortable to have a landline installed.
- Be available for 2 full days training in March/April
About You
This role suits a Medical Practitioner with full AHPRA registration and a minimum 3 years full time equivalent experience working as a General Practitioner (at least 1 of these years must be spent in Australian General Practice).
As a virtual GP you will need to be comfortable communicating through audio and video mediums but also able to collaborate with your wider team through various digital tools and collaborative software such as MS Teams.
