Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Diesel Mechanic role located in Tarwin 3956. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for performing vehicle maintenance, equipment maintenance, Diesel Mechanics, heavy equipment maintenance, and preventive maintenance.
The right candidate will have extensive experience mechanic with diesel engine experience. They will exhibit excellent communication skills, have the ability to take initiative and prioritise daily tasks. The candidate will be willing to do a bit of everything in this multi-faceted role in the family-owned business. Experience and knowledge in agricultural machinery or tractor maintenance will be highly regarded. Experience working with heavy machinery, earth moving equipment and truck mechanics also considered.
Spread of hours: Day Shift Monday to Saturday (Optional)
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience required in a similar role
• Immediate start
• Must be willing to travel between sites
Qualifications
- Vehicle maintenance, equipment maintenance, Diesel Mechanics, heavy equipment maintenance, and preventive maintenance skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate heavy machinery
- Experience with horticultural equipment and machinery is a plus
- Certification in Diesel Mechanics or related field is preferred
- Work within a diverse team in the workshop area and on mobile sites
- Ensure the scheduled servicing requirements are meet and documented
- Assist with allocation and prioritisation of services and breakdowns
- Assist in the ordering and stock management within budget
- Provide on-site training and guidance to junior staff
- Keep a log / record of all scheduled services and breakdowns
- Assist the Maintenance & Mechanics Manager in organising the logistics and transportation of machinery between farms
- Report into the Maintenance & Mechanics Manager
- Ensure staff adhere to the OH&S and food safety / quality policies and procedures; any deviation from these must be addressed with the Operations Manager or Technical Team
